A.      RULES OF THE CLASS

      1.     Walk in quietly

            a.       Keep hands and feet to yourself
            b.       No talking or whispering
            c.     Listen for instructions
            d.       No talking during instructions

B.      RULES OF THE GAMES

         1.     Cheating will not be tolerated
       2.       It does not matter who wins or loses, the important thing is to have fun. (if you had fun you won
       3.     Stress the importance of safety
       4.     Listen to and follow rules at all times

C.      RULES ABOUT GOING OUTSIDE

        1.     Line up quietly to go outside
2.     Walk directly outside, no drinks or restroom
3.     Walk quietly to the designated area

D.   DICIPLINE
        1.     Verbal warning
        2.     Time out
        3.     Parents will be contacted
        4.     Principals office

E.   POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT
        1.      Free days
        2.     Wall of fames

F. ATTIRE
          
1.      For their safety, as well as the safety of others, students are required to wear tennis shoes to physical education.  These shoes should have a flat, non-marking sole.

        2.      Students should wear clothing that is comfortable and allows freedom of movement.  Due to the nature and variety of activities presented, it is possible for your childís clothing to get dusty or dirty.  You may want to keep this in mind on the days that your child has physical education.

        3.      Students should not wear the following to physical education:  dresses, any shoe with a raised heel, sandals, and some skorts.  In general, students should wear clothing that would allow them to; run the mile, stand on their head, lay on the floor, stretch, and participate in a variety of activities without causing embarrassment, discomfort or danger.

        4.  The schools dress code also pertains to our physical education class.  If it is not appropriate for the school, then it will not be appropriate for physical education.

G. EQUIPMENT
       
1.         Equipment shall be used in the manner for which it is intended.
        2.   When finished with equipment, it shall be returned to itís storage area.

I.  INJURY AND ILLNESS
    
I understand that situations may arise that requires students to limit their participation in physical education.  If your child needs to refrain from physical education due to an injury or illness, then please follow these guidelines.

        1.      Please send a note that includes the nature of the problem, the date,the date that your child can return to full participation, and your child's limitations.

        2.      Please let me know what activities your child can do during this time, as I will modify or create activities that will keep him/her involved.

        3. Some students are a little leery to try activities that they believe are new, difficult or dangerous.  Each activity in physical education is instituted to fill the requirements of our physical education course of study.  Therefore, it is important that each student participate in all of the activities presented throughout the course.  All activities will be presented in a professional, safe and courteous manner, where the well being of your child is my top priority.  With this in mind, please do not excuse your child because they are afraid of, or dislike a particular activity.  If you or your child are concerned about any aspect of physical education, please call me anytime, at home or at school.

J.  INTERVENTION
        1.       Students that are unable to participate will act as judges, referees, score keepers, teachers helpers, or other activities that will keep them involved in the class.

        2.       Students will not be excused from physical education without a note from a doctor or parent.
